Frequently Asked Questions

How Can I Get Started?

If you are interested in beginning therapy with me, I would be happy to have a free consultation with you. This would be a 20-minute video call for you to ask me any questions to learn more about me and how I work and to see if I might be a good fit for your needs.

To arrange a free consultation, please use the contact form on my website here or send me an email at lornaboyletherapy@gmail.com.

How Much Will Therapy Cost?

My fee is €60, which can be paid at the end of each session by Revolut, bank transfer or cash. I do also offer some low-cost spaces to students or those experiencing financial hardship. I often have a waiting list for these spaces, but please feel free to inquire and I will do my best to facilitate you as soon as I can.

How Often Will I Come to Therapy?

Our therapy sessions are usually held on a weekly basis. Having regular and consistent therapy sessions will allow our therapeutic relationship to develop, which in turn should facilitate you in gaining a faster and deeper understanding of your experiences.

In some cases, therapy can take place on a fortnightly basis. This is usually once our relationship is well-established and is often with the view to working towards the end of therapy.

How Long Does A Session Last?

Our sessions will last between 50 and 60 minutes.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

There really is no single answer to this as it will depend on what issues you are experiencing. Our sessions together are open-ended, so the number of sessions you attend is ultimately decided by you.

If you are attending therapy with me I will hold your space for you for as long as you want it. Usually, I will work with clients for an initial 6 sessions and then we will review our work together and you can decide whether you would like to continue. We will continue to review our work together periodically throughout your therapy.

Is Therapy Confidential?

Psychotherapy is a totally confidential service in almost all situations. However, as a mandated person under the Children First Act 2015, there are certain circumstances in which I may be ethically and legally required to break confidentiality. The main examples of this are:

  • if there is a risk of harm to yourself,

  • if there is a risk of harm to someone else,

  • or if a disclosure of abuse against a child, current or historical, is made.

What Happens If I Need to Cancel a Session?

In the event that you need to cancel a session, please try to let me know as soon as possible. If you cancel a session with less than 24 hours’ notice, a cancellation fee of €20 is applied to cover the cost of my room rent.

If you are struggling to attend therapy for any reason, please discuss this with me and I will do my best to facilitate your needs. If you cancel three sessions in a row, our therapy sessions may need to end.

Can I Claim Therapy Sessions Through My Health Insurance?

Clients are advised to check with their health insurance provider before beginning therapy sessions to confirm eligibility for reimbursement, as coverage varies by provider and plan.
